Taxi Queues... Why do we need more?

The government are trying to say there are not enough cabs.
The following photos are of common venues where there are cabs sitting, queuing for up to an hour at a time.
I would add airport queues (up to 180 some nights) but I just don't go near the place.   I will add some city ranks but it is difficult parking as there is no rank space and it is hazardous trying to take photos from the middle of busy streets.

Northbridge on a Friday night facing West along James St from Lake St.   Most of these cabs are empty at the supposed peak of 2.00am

Now lets look at the Casino on a Long Weekend Sunday night.   No shortage of cabs here.   In fact they are double parking and queuing up back onto Bolton Ave.
The queue opposite the Holiday Inn at the Casino

The queue doubling up outside the Eve Entrance at the Casino

The queue waiting to join the doubled up queue outside Eve at the Casino (note the last cab taking a fare and who could blame him?).

Lets check City ranks...
Here we have a typical city rank scene (The Hilton) at 7.30 on a Tuesday night.   It is like this most nights from 6.00 to 10.00 pm.   Most City ranks are like this most nights.

Taxis parked on QV1.   Note that the actual rank is where the front two cabs are.   The others are on a Red Cat bus stop.

These cabs are all parked illegally.   The last one is parked haphazardly.   The problem is where do the cabs go to park?   There is very lttle rank space in the city.   The minister thinks we have a shortage of cabs so he wants to release even more (300) plates.   Where will they go.   At 8.30 pm there were 150 taxis positioned at the airport.   Most radio areas had twice as many cabs logged in as there were jobs allocatted in the previous hour, that translates to one job every two hours (I had five radio jobs of which one was a no job).   This is normal.   Why do we need 300 more cabs?
